Join Kirk, Friends & Svet Lana TONIGHT for "Know Your Ingredients" with Warriors for Life (WFL)

Come join Volunteer, Peer Support Specialist Kirk Poe for "Awaken Your Inner Healer!" edition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online, sponsored and presented by Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV).

We are asking everyone to share who we are and what support Victory for Veterans provides via WFL. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.

TONIGHT's Topic:  "Know Your Ingredients"

ree

Join Kirk, friends, and Veteran Svet Lana TONIGHT for a discussion about "Know Your Ingredients" Everyone is welcome!

Veteran Svet Lana will give us tips on how to read a label to understand any harmful ingredients.

Harmful ingredients, like endocrine disrupters, can negatively affect mental health by interfering with hormone levels, altering neurotransmitter activity, and increasing oxidative stress and neuroinflammation, leading to issues such as depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline. Toxins from food, household products, and environmental pollution can cross the blood-brain barrier, causing neurochemical imbalances, reducing blood flow to the brain, and disrupting normal brain development.

How harmful ingredients impact the brain and mental health:

  • Disrupting the Endocrine System:

Harmful chemicals like phthalates and parabens can mimic or interfere with the body's hormones, leading to imbalances that affect mood, anxiety, and other cognitive functions.

  • Altering Neurotransmitters:

Some toxins can interfere with neurotransmitter such as dopamine and serotonin, which are crucial for regulating mood, motivation, and emotional responses, contributing to conditions like depression, anxiety, and mood swings.

  • Causing Neuroinflammation and Oxidative Stress:

Exposure to environmental toxins can trigger inflammation and oxidative stress within the brain, which are linked to mental health disorders and overall brain health.

  • Reducing Brain Blood Flow:

Substances that restrict blood flow to the brain can impair optimal brain function, a factor associated with depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and Alzheimer's disease.

  • Disrupting Gut Microbiota:

Certain food additives, like emulsifiers can alter gut bacteria, which in turn may influence neuroinflammatory pathways linked to mood disorders.

  • Affecting Brain Development:

Children are particularly vulnerable, as the brain is still developing during their formative years. Toxic exposures can lead to long-term cognitive and neurodevelopmental challenges.

Sources of Harmful Ingredients:

  • Ultra-Processed Food:

Contain artificial sweeteners, preservatives, and food additives that can negatively impact brain function.

  • Household & Personal Care Products:

Ingredients like sulfates, parabens, and synthetic fragrances can be absorbed into the body and affect the nervous system.

  • Environmental Pollutants:

Chemicals in pesticides, plastics, and other industrial products can lead to chronic exposure and mental health issues.
