Drop in every Saturday evening with Volunteer and Army Veteran Mikel Burroughs for "Burly's Warriors" edition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online, presented by Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV).

We are asking everyone to share who we are and what support that Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is providing via WFL. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.

"SLEEP WHEN YOUR BRAIN WON’T SHUT DOWN!"

Welcome, everyone, to Burly’s Warriors!, the Saturday evening edition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online Peer Support Network.

Welcome, everyone. Tonight we are tackling one of the toughest, most exhausting battles a warrior can face—the battle that happens after the lights go out.

For many of us, nighttime is not peaceful. When the world gets quiet, the external distractions disappear, and suddenly the mind gets incredibly loud. Memories, intrusive thoughts, replaying what happened, obsessing over what could have happened, or stressing about what might happen tomorrow.

Some people wake up repeatedly throughout the night. Others struggle to just fall asleep in the first place. Many of us remain utterly exhausted but still cannot get our brains to shut down. And when sleep becomes a struggle, everything else in our lives becomes a heavier lift: our patience breaks faster, our focus slips, our mood drops, our relationships strain, decision-making becomes exhausting, and motivation disappears.

Tonight isn't about lecturing you on sleep hygiene or telling you to just buy a better pillow. It’s about recognizing that a mind trained for a mission doesn't always know how to stand down, and talking about how we can help each other find a way to quiet the noise."

It's about recognizing that invisible wounds are real, that struggling does not make you weak, and that you don't have to walk through those struggles alone. So tonight, I want everyone to remember our Burly’s Warriors! rule:

"Because sometimes showing up is the first step toward finding your way forward!"

Our Vision at Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is simple: "Where Hope, Support, and Healing come together!"

We encourage you to join us, Everyone is Welcome, Everyone Matters, You Matter to Us, so Talk to Us! — invite a friend!
