Join our Volunteer, Air Force Veteran, Peer Support Specialist, and Writer/Author Steven Bates TONIGHT for "Mid-Week Musings!" edition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online, sponsored and presented by Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV).
We are asking everyone to share who we are and what support that Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is providing via WFL. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.

TONIGHT's Topic: "Christmas Eve with Steve!"

"It's Christmas Eve! Time for family and friends, Time to spend with those that care about you and yours. Warriors For Life is one of those groups. We're here on Christmas Eve to spend time with you just as family."

From the perspective of individual mental health and well-being, meeting with family or a supportive community on Christmas Eve is generally considered important for several reasons:
Emotional Support: Holidays can often exacerbate feelings of loneliness, stress, and isolation, which are significant triggers for mental health challenges. Spending time with a support system (family, friends, or a peer group) can provide comfort, reduce anxiety, and improve mood.
Belonging and Connection: Humans thrive on social connection and feeling like they belong. Shared experiences and traditions, especially during the holidays, reinforce these bonds and offer a sense of stability and normalcy.
Routine and Structure: Engaging in planned holiday activities can provide a healthy routine, which is beneficial for managing mental health conditions. It offers a focus point and a break from potential negative rumination.
Reduced Stigma: Openly participating in family or group activities can help normalize mental health discussions and reinforce the idea that individuals with mental health needs are part of a supportive community.
For individuals who may not have family available or for whom family interactions are stressful, it is equally important to engage with alternative support networks, such as friends or dedicated holiday peer support group meetings. Many mental health organizations and community centers offer resources and gatherings during the holidays to ensure no one is alone.
