"Wounds of the Mind: "Nevermore!"
Join Air Force veteran, author, and Peer Support Specialist Steven Bates with the Warriors for Life Mid-Week Musings Peer Support group tonight as we discuss "Wounds of the Mind: "Nevermore!" Let's discuss and learn how we can take control over our struggles.
"On this, the anniversary oof Edgar Allen Poe's death, we look at the man himself. Most do not know he was a veteran, not only an enlisted man that achieved the rank of Sergeant Major in Artillery, the highest enlisted rank possible in that career field, but he also later applied and went to West Point.

Though his West Point adventure was cut short with a dismissal, Edgar Allan Poe understood what it meant to be a veteran. Even after being dismissed from West Point, the cadets there chipped in to finance his second book, called "Poems". His poem, "The Valley of Unrest" is probably his most military minded poem about the graves of soldiers lost in war but we are going to discuss the most famous Poe Poem, "Nevermore". Poe speaks in the poem of unending grief, of unending torment, of pain and sorrow. Though a tragic poem, I wonder what we could end pain wise just by saying "Nevermore" as does the Raven, in fact, "nevermore" is the only word the raven speaks. When we stop allowing things to bother us, as hard as that sounds, we make great progress in our mental health. What can you learn to say "Nevermore" to that may help end your suffering in some cases?"

Our Vision at Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV) is simple: "Where Hope, Support, and Healing come together!"
