Come join Volunteer, Peer Support Specialist Kirk Poe for "Awaken Your Inner Healer!" edition of Warriors for Life (WFL) Online, sponsored and presented by Victory for Veterans, Inc. (VFV).
We are asking everyone to share who we are and what support Victory for Veterans provides via WFL. If you know someone who is a veteran, first responder or a family member/caregiver, please ask them to join us for at least one meeting so they can learn more about what we do and how they can share their wisdom with others who may be able to learn from them.

TONIGHT's Topic: "Ditch Your Baggage"
Join Kirk and Friends TONIGHT for a discussion about "Ditch Your Baggage" Everyone is welcome!

By letting go of our baggage – confronting our attachments and aspiring to new ideals – we can ditch our baggage and become the best versions of ourselves.
Here is a list of 10 attachments that create havoc in our lives and the 10 aspirations that set us free.
Stability – We believe we can create stability and safety in our lives. But there’s no such thing. Every time we breathe, the world changes. Uncertainty is reality. Stability is an illusion. To detach, we need to be agile through uncertainty.
The Past—Many of us are living in the past. We idealize our memories and become immobilized by old emotional scars, relationships that didn’t work, or business deals that went sour. To detach, we must let go and practice forgiveness.
The Future – Many of us are preoccupied with the future. Obsessed with what is missing in our lives. We are never satisfied with who we are or what we have. This diminishes our confidence and peace of mind. To detach, we must learn to live in the present moment.
Control – We are taught to shape our environment. We take charge and cleverly maneuver our way through situations and influence people to get what we want. Determined to control the uncontrollable, we hide our vulnerability and ironically lose control in the process. To detach, we must embrace our vulnerability.
Perfection – We are imperfect by nature. Yet how many of us need to be perfect? Then we impose our perfection on the people around us – from parents to kids, spouses to partners, bosses to associates. By fearing mistakes and looking inadequate, we risk becoming too attached to perfection. To detach, we must fall in love with our imperfections.
Success – When our desire for success turns into a compulsive need for achievement, we’ve got a problem. We define success from the outside in, based on other people’s expectations, and not our own. To detach, we must live in abundance.
Pleasure – Many people are attached to pleasure. Why not? But when our desires are driven by dysfunctional grasping (alcohol, drugs, work, food, gambling, shopping, or social media), this undermines our health and performance. To detach, we must get comfortable with discomfort.
Youth – How often do we idealize our youth and diminish our older citizens? Nowhere is this more insidious than inside our heads. Then we yearn for youth and ignore the many benefits of aging (maturity, wisdom, independence, and freedom). To detach, we must age gracefully.
The Self – We are alone in the world, often preoccupied by our own needs, thoughts, and feelings. Under the guise of taking care of ourselves, we fear intimacy and connection, withdrawing from the very people who would give meaning to our lives. To detach, we must love generously.
Life – Why do we have so much difficulty accepting the natural process of growth, loss, and death, whether it's our natural surroundings, jobs, retirement, human relationships, or simple beliefs about change? To detach, we must live each day with gratitude.
